Julietta Henry, Milwaukee County Board of Elections Director, just announced at the county courthouse that the final results from the presidential election will not be done earlier than 5 AM Wednesday. @journalsentinel

Trump has now edged ahead in Texas. There are not a lot of votes in the cities remaining, though several suburban counties are yet to report.

Trump has pulled out to a 3% lead in Florida. No one has yet made an official call, but it’s hard to see where that many votes might be hiding.

If Michigan looks odd with Trump well ahead, it looks even odder at the county level, because Trump is currently winning in Detroit and Flint. This is because Michigan didn’t tally early votes in advance, and appears to be reporting Election Day votes first, with early votes and mail in votes still outstanding — the opposite of several other states.

With 60% of the vote in Ohio in, Biden’s lead is down to < 4%. However, there is still more half the vote from Toledo, Cleveland, and Columbus to be added, and a good percentage of early votes are still outstanding.

With 81% of the vote in North Carolina in, Biden is hanging on to a 2% lead. However, that state did count most early / mail in ballots first. So what remains is pretty much all Election Day votes.

CNN is projecting Biden the winner in Colorado. That’s not yet an official call from AP.

Just looking at some counties in North Carolina. Biden is running 5% ahead of Clinton in Mecklenburg Co, 2% ahead in Cumberland Co, and 2% ahead in Wake Co. Trump took NC by 3.6% in 2016.

Still a shrug.

In the pattern we’ve seen all night, with 65% reporting, Ohio is now almost tied. However, there are still a lot of votes out there in counties that should be Biden. Still no call from anyone on this one.

D.C.’s electoral votes have gone to Biden. Not sure why there was a delay on those, but … they’re in there now.

New York Times is projecting that 63% of remaining votes in Ohio are from counties that Clinton won. However, those counties may have already reported some early votes.

Biden’s lead down to 13,000 votes in Ohio. Hold onto … something.

Wednesday, Nov 4, 2020 · 2:59:02 AM +00:00 · Mark Sumner

Both Ohio and North Carolina are essentially knotted up at the moment, with Biden holding slender leads in both. However, in Ohio there appear to be plenty of Biden votes outstanding, making it definitely seem like a pickup. In North Carolina, there are few more areas to report, and some solid blue areas with votes outstanding, but the reporting of early vs. Election Day results continues to make the outcome hard to call.

Wednesday, Nov 4, 2020 · 3:03:19 AM +00:00 · Mark Sumner

The vote total in Ohio has jumped from 64% to 75%, and Trump now leads by 2%. However, all the time Trump has been gaining, the tallies in Cleveland, Columbus, Toledo have essentially been static. Half the votes in those areas are still outstanding.

So Trump’s surge into the lead may make things look bad, but it’s not over in Ohio.
