Teenager’s hands chopped, eyes gouged out by gang in Jordan

A 16-year-old boy had his hands chopped off and eyes gouged out by a group of men in Jordan, sparking widespread anger across the nation, Al Arabiya reported.

In a statement, media spokesperson for Jordan’s Public Security Directorate Colonel Amer al-Sartawi, said that the boy was nabbed by the men in Zarqa city, where they took him to an abandoned area and started torturing him.

The crime was captured on video that has now circulated online, showing the young boy crying out for help. According to an eyewitness, the incident was done as a revenge after the victim’s father allegedly killed the uncle of one of the attackers.

“God gave me the strength to endure what happened and that when I saw the kidnappers, I tried to flee but they managed to catch me and take me to a house in the eastern city, where they carried out their crime,” the boy said in audio recordings.

“They put my hands on the table and hit it with the ax several times, and they inserted a sharp blade into my eyes, and I was screaming Allah Akbar (God is Great),” he added.

Al Arabiya reported that the country’s King Abdullah II was personally involved in the arrest of the men by the Public Security Directorate.
