Markos Moulitsas on MTP Daily: "We have a much broader playing field now"

On Wednesday, Daily Kos founder Markos Moulitsas joined Chuck Todd and fellow guest Michael Steel on Meet the Press Daily to discuss the Trump campaign's lagging finances, fundraising numbers for Democrats, and the state of the race heading into the final week before the election. Markos, in particular, dug into the significance of the latest “green wave”—the surge of money flooding into Democratic campaigns—and how that has affected this critical final stretch of the race.

A clip and the full video can be viewed after the jump.

With the Trump campaign floundering after mismanaging its finances heading into the last week, Democrats are seizing the opportunity and pressing forward, raising and spending millions in battleground states like Florida. As Markos explains:

We’re seeing fundraising numbers that are just mind boggling, right? We have Jaime Harrison running in South Carolina reporting $56 million — that’s presidential level money just a few cycles ago … You’re seeing House races that are raising the kind of money Senate campaigns used to raise, and you’re seeing state legislators raising the kind of money House campaigns used to raise — in the millions of dollars over the last month.

With polls showing a uniform shift in the direction of the Democrats, Markos expressed his excitement that the party has been able to broaden its battleground map: “You’re seeing consistent 5-7 point leads in states like Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, and Michigan, and smaller leads in Georgia, Arizona […] Texas is competitive. I still can’t believe I’m saying Texas is competitive.”
