With less than two weeks to go before the elections, it’s the second and final presidential debate. Joe Biden and Donald Trump will face off, with NBC News’ Kristen Welker moderating and a new set of rules muting the microphone of whoever is not speaking during the initial two-minute answers in each of the six topic areas. Those topics are COVID-19, leadership, American families, race in America, climate change, and national security.
The debate runs for 90 minutes beginning at 9 PM ET. You can watch it on many television networks or stream it at many news sites, including C-SPAN. You can also follow along here.
Whatever you do, do not play a debate drinking game with Trump interrupting or lying as a reason to drink.
Biden opens on the national security/election interference question. And he opens the case against Giuliani.
Trump starts off by saying that Biden got $3M and says that Russia wants him to lose. Trump accuses Biden of getting a lot of money from Russia. And here he goes … Trump is going straight into the “your family is raking in” a lot of money while he was vice president.
Biden responds—“I have not taken a penny from any foreign source in my life.” Talks about Trump’s secret Chinese bank account.
Points out that he has released 22 years of his tax returns. “What are you hiding.”
Trump is now claiming he “pre-paid” tens of millions of dollars. And apparently they got so close in their estimates that he only had to pay $750.
He says the IRS treats him very badly, and makes the claim again he’s going to release them … one day, one day, one day.
Trump claims he didn’t release his taxes because … Mueller and “18 angry Democrats.”
And now … the moderator asks Biden. Who does a good job.
Trump claims that Hunter Biden “didn’t have a job for a long time.” Which is untrue. Wish Biden had hit him on that. For all his problems, Hunter Biden has an extensive resume.
Trump is only going to talk about Hunter Biden and ignore everything about questions.
Biden tries to pivot away from “not about his family or my family” and Trump … insists on being an ass.
I honestly wish Biden would say “Okay, then let’s talk about your family, and go to what Ivanka, Don Jr., etc” have done.
Now Trump is claiming that Obama predicted there would be a nuclear war with North Korea.
